Charlie Kirk statue to be installed in US Capitol: Mike Johnson
House Speaker Mike Johnson has said that “we are going to work on” a statue in Washington, D.C. of Charlie Kirk, the assassinated right-wing political activist.
Johnson was cheered as the addressed the crowd in Phoenix, Arizona he during the America Fest conference of Turning Point USA, which Kirk co-founded.
Arizona Republican Representative Andy Biggs had earlier said on stage there was a proposal to construct a statue for Kirk in the Capitol as he encouraged the crowd to let Johnson know how much they wanted the statue.
Johnson took to the stage to refer to Biggs’s comments, saying, “I knew (Kirk) a long time, and yes, Andy Biggs, we’re going to work on that statue in the Capitol, OK?” His comments prompted cheers which resounded for around 30 seconds.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
