Eagles fans fire back at report targeting Jalen Hurts
The Philadelphia Eagles aren’t even a week into their offseason, and it’s been a drama-filled break.
As expected, the team parted ways with its offensive coordinator, Kevin Patullo. The AJ Brown trade saga is back up and running, and now Jalen Hurts is under fire after what can be seen as an underwhelming season.
A report from The Athletic’s Mike Silver included a deep dive on the Eagles’ offensive issues in 2025. Some quotes about the organization’s dynamics regarding the franchise quarterback made their rounds on social media, serving up a juicy topic for the masses to discuss.
How Are Eagles Fans Responding?
As expected, fans of the Eagles aren’t thrilled to see the team’s starting quarterback under fire this early on.
Typically, Eagles fans feel the need to get defensive over Hurts’ standing in a quarterback power rankings, but this is a different kind of criticism.
“Eagles’ powerbrokers (Sirianni, general manager Howie Roseman and owner Jeffrey Lurie) are reluctant to criticize Hurts. For all that the quarterback has accomplished, including two standout performances on the sport’s biggest stage (one of which earned him Super Bowl MVP honors), he has been the source of much internal frustration, including from teammates other than Brown.”
Based on the quote, it seems Hurts’ shortcomings are a sensitive topic in South Philly.
But Eagles fans don’t seem to be letting that cloud their judgment of Hurts.
@LowkeyCozy: 1. The owner of a football team will NEVER feel reluctant to speak to their qb
- If your head coach is too afraid to speak to his quarterback he isn’t meant to be a head coach
These reports come off as once again pushing a narrative that simply isn’t believable
@Skipper1913: Why am I seeing a SB MVP getting more criticism than the highest paid QB in the league who only has 2 playoff wins in 10yrs?
@BWalkerNFL: Why does it feel like Jalen Hurts is the most respected player and yet most hated player at the same time
@WilliamLloyd_: Everytime Sirianni is criticized, a Hurts hit piece comes out… lol
@Lexigirl2026: What’s truly remarkable is your negativity. Most of your recent posts are typical of Hurts haters. You have 8 great playoff teams to write about, but you’re focused on Jalen. I don’t see you criticize Mahomes or the Chiefs, who completely melted down this year. Pathetic.

There’s Work to Do
The Eagles are still the NFL’s most recent Super Bowl winners. Jalen Hurts was the MVP of that game.
If “powerbrokers” are hesitant to offer strong comments aimed at Hurts, that could very well just be a problem with the messenger. After all, not many coaches, GMs, or owners would risk getting under the skin of their franchise quarterback. Sometimes, some things are just better off left unsaid.
Everybody needs to be better in Philadelphia. Hurts, Sirianni, AJ Brown, and many more. Plenty of blame can go around for the offense’s shortcomings this year. The Eagles’ fan base might have some strong thoughts on how Hurts played, but they don’t seem to be worried about the quote that’s making its rounds.
