Exclusive | Tony DeAngelo tells The Post about his Islanders resurgence and his ‘confidence’ returning

SAINT PAUL, Minn. — Through the first month of the season, Tony DeAngelo wasn’t happy with his game.

He felt it even in training camp. Too many mistakes, many of them unforced, overshadowing everything else.

“Those are the whole thing, those cause all the trouble,” DeAngelo told The Post on Saturday before the Islanders faced the Wild. “A play that’s unforced and you’re spending a minute in your D-zone. That’s how it spirals out of control.”

For DeAngelo, a defenseman who loves to jump in the rush and make a risky play up the middle, when those mistakes come, they tend to look worse — and have worse ramifications — than others.
