How Texas intends to prevent voter fraud
AUSTIN (KXAN) — Texas recently entered into memorandums of understanding (MOU) with nine states intended to share voter registration data.
According to the Texas Secretary of State, the MOU is meant to help prevent duplicate registrations.
“The agreements establish a secure and cooperative process for comparing voter registration records, providing a critical tool to detect and prevent potential voter fraud,” SOS said.
According to the Secretary of State, the nine states are:
- Alabama
- Arkansas
- Kansas
- Kentucky
- Louisiana
- Ohio
- South Carolina
- Virginia
- West Virginia
The Lone Star State intends to establish similar agreements with additional states in the future.
“These agreements will further enhance election security by allowing states to work together to identify cross-state duplicate registrations and prevent voting in multiple jurisdictions,” the Secretary of State said.
The MOUs outline how the states would exchange voter registration data, as well as how instances of duplicate registrations or potential voter fraud would be shared with authorities for investigation, according to the Secretary of State.
